Benefit They're Real Mascara Review

Hello everyone!

I thought I'd do a quick review on one of my favourite mascaras: the Benefit They're Real Mascara.
I know that this isn't their newest mascaras, as they recently brought out the Roller Lash Mascara, but it is one of my all-time favourites

First, I need to mention the packaging because I absolutely ADORE it! The cardboard box-thing that it comes in is so pretty and just looks so...new and exciting. One thing you'll learn about me through these blog posts is that I love the boxes that things come in and the packaging is very important to me, because I like to keep the boxes. The good thing about the box that the They're Real Mascara comes in, is it doesn't take up too much room. This is because it's not one of those boxes that are way too big for the product, but the mascara bottle fits in perfectly.

Moving on too the actual mascara bottle...I literally cannot put into words how much I love it! It - for some odd reason - makes me feel like I'm backstage of a show and I'm getting ready to go up (it's very random, I know). I literally feel like some Hollywood star when I pick up the bottle. I love how shiny it is and I absolutely love the choice of colours, especially the pinky colour. One fault, however, is that it does get dirty very fast and that can completely change the look of the bottle, so you have to be sure to keep it clean and snazzy.

I've just realised that I've rambled on A LOT and I haven't even gotten to the actual product inside the bottle yet. I like to wear the They're Real Mascara on days where I want more dramatic lashes. I definitely would not wear it for more natural looking lashes. I find that this mascara works differently on different people, because when I wear it, I need to go full out for the false-lash-effect, but when my sister wears it, she can get really natural, separated lashes, so it may just depend on the type of eyelashes you have. Either way, it's a great mascara. It really lengthens my lashes so much, they are practically hitting my eyebrows! My lashes have NO (absolutely zilch) curl at all, if anything they point at odd angles downwards. I do curl my lashes before I put mascara on, and I find that the They're Real Mascara holds the curl for about an hour, after that I still have a curl from the mascara, but it's less of a full curl. However, I would not blame this on the mascara because I am still looking for a mascara that will hold my curl for 3+ hours.

I love the brush of this mascara, because the bristles aren't too long, but they apply just the right amount of mascara to your lashes. The tip of the brush is like a spiky ball and this is supposed to be to separate your lashes, but I actually quite like to use it for my bottom lashes, as it's a lot easier to use rather than the entire brush.

The formulation of the mascara is good, but I do think it's a bit dry, which can make it very difficult to apply more than one layer, because by the time you get to applying the second layer of mascara, the first coat has dried and will just crumble back onto the brush. Having saying this, the mascara isn't actually that crumbly, unless you decide to go over it with the brush when it's dry.

Overall I do love this mascara, as I mentioned quite a few times near the beginning of this post, but I think the result you get depends on the type of lashes you have.

Lots of love, Donya x
